War and Rules
Recently an article
appeared on MSNBC.com that showed a group of Taliban at a funeral. The
picture was taken by a U.S. Predator drone. Upon seeing the group there
was great excitement as the U.S. Army had an opportunity to kill a
large gathering of the enemy. However, there was no attack as “the
rules of engagement did not allow an attack.”
NBC quoted one Army officer who was involved with the spy mission as
saying, “we were so excited” that the group had been spotted and was in
the sights of a U.S. drone. But the network quoted the officer, who was
not identified, as saying that frustration soon set in after the
officers realized they couldn’t bomb the funeral under the military’s
rules of engagement. Rules of engagement?
Are you serious? Are you kidding me or what?
I think that everyone on the face of the planet agrees that it was the
Taliban that attacked New York City on 9/11.
And the last time I checked it was the Taliban that the U.S. supposedly
removed from power in Afghanistan. I mean was that not the sole purpose
of going into Afghanistan – to KILL those who KILLED the Americans on
9/11? I have a new “Rule of engagement” for Donald Rumsfeld. It is
called “the lowest common denominator.” Return to your enemy that which
is given to you.
Where were the “rules of engagement” on 9/11? Was it suddenly ok to
kill civilians? Do the rules of engagement only apply to one of the
warring sides? If so then one side has a very distinct advantage over
the other side.
The U.S. must learn that War is not a game. It is not like we are
playing Parlor Bridge on a Sunday afternoon. When the enemy is spotted
the enemy must be attacked and KILLED. Period!
Had the situation been reversed the Taliban would have gladly attacked
the Americans and then bragged to the world about the number of
Americans they killed.
I counted over 200 Taliban in the picture. If each one gets a chance,
now a second chance, to kill an American that will be 200 more
Americans coming home is body bags. That is 200 more Americans whose
deaths could have been avoided if not for some archaic “rules of
engagement.” Of course Donald Rumsfeld won't be one of the 200 coming
home in a body bag. He is already at home safe and sound. I think our
soldiers deserve the same.
We are at war with the Taliban! That means we kill them whenever and
wherever we encounter them regardless of the rules of engagement.
Finally, here is my "rule of engagement" - KILL THEM ALL! |
