Nukes and Maniacs
Last
week North Korea announced to the world that it had tested a nuclear
weapon. The consequences of the test are yet to be determined but
one thing is for sure - NOTHING GOOD can come it!
Currently there are eight nuclear nations. They
include the United States, the United Kingdom, China, France, Russia,
India, Pakistan and Israel. If indeed North Korea has now joined the
"nuclear club" then there are now nine nuclear nations. Considering
the possible consequences Japan and South Korea are sure to develop
nuclear weapons to protect themselves from North Korea and
bring the total to 11.
One can see the unintended consequences
of North Korea's actions specifically an arms race like the one that
took place during the cold war.
Being armed is not the problem. What a
nation does with those arms is a great problem. Of all the current
nuclear countries the only one that would sell nuclear
weapons and the associated technology is North Korea.
North Korea currently sells every type of weapon
it has and its catalog has included ballistic missiles and related
components, conventional weapons such as mobile rocket launchers,
and nuclear technology. And they are not very particular about who
they sell them to. According to U.S. officials and outside
experts, Pyongyang has sold its military goods to at least 18
countries, mostly in Africa and the Middle East.
The Middle East is certainly an area of concern
for the rest of the world considering that it is home to most of
the world's terrorists. There is a huge difference between selling
terrorists conventional weapons like AK-47's and selling them a
nuclear bomb. Terrorists cannot destroy cities and countries with
AK-47's but they certainly can with nuclear bombs. And therein lies
the problem.
If allowed to continue along its current path
North Korea will improve its technology, build more nuclear bombs
and sell it all to the highest bidder which will probably be the
terrorists. The mere thought of terrorists obtaining nuclear weapons
is horrifying at best. Can anyone say mass destruction?
North Korea must be stopped and stopped NOW! All
of the diplomats at the UN must be made to understand this - NOW!
Forget about the embargos and the freezing of hard assets. They must
stop their discussions and debates and realize that diplomacy will
not work. In fact, so far it has totally failed.
The only viable remaining option is force. The
communist regime that is North Korea must be eliminated. That means
killing its maniacal leader Kim Jong-il and crushing its repressive
government. Anything else would be too little too late.
Oh the world could wait to see what the North
Koreans will do but that would be futile. The only real questions
are
when will they sell their nukes and who will they sell them to. The world
can not afford to wait. Waiting will certainly reveal the answers
but seeing a giant mushroom cloud over a major city is not the way
to find out.
We can have a future with North Korea and its
nukes or we can have one without them. I personally choose the
latter. The future is all about planning and certainly the best way
to predict the future is to create it.
Attack and attack now!
